The firm of McArthur Vantell Ltd. was established in 1995. Art McArthur, P. Eng., and Jack Vantell, A.Sc.T., the Principals of McArthur Vantell Ltd., have been in construction consulting for a combined total of over 40 years.
ART McARTHUR, applies over three decades of design, construction, and construction management experience gained in the construction industry. He has worked on a broad range of projects including many types of structures - including hospitals, sports arenas, industrial complexes, bridges, and the Vancouver Skytrain.
Prior to starting his own company, Art held previous consulting engineering positions. He focused on building science issues, specializing in building envelope problems and design of cladding systems. As a project manager in construction for many years, he obtained a practical knowledge of materials, assemblies, construction practices, and sequencing. He is very familiar with British Columbia Code requirements and current construction technology, and has provided litigation support for a number of buildings that have experienced premature envelope failures.
JACK VANTELL began his career in the field of Building Science as a Certified Thermographer in 1989. There he completed thermographic studies on building envelopes, built-up roofs, and electrical systems. He is proficient in inspections using infrared technology.
In 1991, Jack was retained by the Building Science Division of a Consulting Engineering firm to establish a client base for the company in B.C. His experience includes design and field review of roofing system installations, design of waterproofing applications for various building components, window and skylight retrofits, and parking garage inspections. This work includes high-rise, low-rise, residential and commercial complexes. Jack has prepared specifications, tender documents and contracts, as well as conducted field reviews of work in progress. He has done many building science investigations and forensic studies utilizing various methodologies.
